Best Pediatric Speech Therapy Options in NYC: What Sets Speech in The City Apart

August 22, 2022December 29, 2025 Comments Off on Best Pediatric Speech Therapy Options in NYC: What Sets Speech in The City Apart

Navigating the world of pediatric speech therapy in New York City can be a daunting task for parents. With a vast number of providers, it’s essential to understand the different approaches and specializations available. What makes use unique is our expertise and unique therapeutic philosophies. This distinction is crucial for parents seeking a practice that goes beyond the standard offerings to address specific or complex needs.

What sets us apart our intense training programs that our speech therapists take part in. We are all trained on in Orofacial Myofunctional Therapy (OMT), which addresses the muscles of the face and mouth that are vital for speech, feeding, and even breathing. We also specialize in comprehensive feeding and lactation services, providing crucial support for infants and toddlers with challenges related to eating. Furthermore, Speech in The City embraces a neurodiversity-affirming approach, with therapists trained to work with children who are Gestalt Language Processors, recognizing a different, yet valid, pathway to language development. Lastly, all of our providers are trained in working with apraxia which is a motor speech disorder. We are all trained in DTTC and PROMPT.

In addition to its specializations, we take pride in our “whole-child” and collaborative approach. We work closely with parents, and even other medical professionals, they ensure that the therapeutic process extends beyond the clinic, empowering families to support their child’s progress at home. Our mission is a combination of advanced specialization in speech therapy and a supportive and client-centered philosophy.
