Currently hiring a full-time SLP for May 2025 start:

Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) position in a private practice setting, with a focus on pediatric care.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Evaluations: Assessing children’s speech, language, and communication abilities. Including knowledge of standardized tests, observations, and interaction with the child and family.
  • Direct Treatment: Providing therapy sessions to children with speech or language delays or disorders. Including articulation therapy, language intervention, or other evidence-based practices.
  • Documentation: Maintaining detailed records of evaluations, treatment plans, progress notes, and other required paperwork for each child.

Required Skills and Qualities:

  • Passion for working with children: This is a must-have in pediatric care! The ideal candidate genuinely enjoys helping children and their families.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills: Building rapport with children, families, and colleagues is essential for effective therapy and a positive work environment.
  • Professionalism: Maintaining ethical conduct, adhering to best practices, and representing the practice positively.
  • Liability Insurance: This protects the SLP and the practice in case of any incidents.
  • Strong communication skills: Clear and effective communication is crucial for explaining diagnoses, treatment plans, and progress to families, as well as collaborating with colleagues.
  • Attention to detail: Accurate record-keeping, assessment scoring, and observation are vital.
  • Highly organized: Managing a caseload of children requires strong organizational skills to schedule sessions, track progress, and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with children: This is a non-negotiable requirement. The practice needs someone comfortable and competent in working with a pediatric population.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Feeding Experience: Experience with feeding difficulties in children is a plus, expanding the SLP’s potential client base and skillset.
  • PROMPT Training: The Prompts for Restructuring Oral Muscular Phonetic Targets (PROMPT) technique is a specialized approach to speech sound disorders. Having this training would be advantageous.
  • Orofacial Myology Training: This relates to the assessment and treatment of the muscles involved in speech, swallowing, and facial expression. It’s another specialized skill that would be valuable.
